Kopaja S 66 Chosen as Pilot Project for Revitalizing Public Transport

Jakarta Provincial Government will begin the revitalization program of public transport in the capital. To realize it, Jakarta Transportation Department chosen the Kopaja S 66 bus (Manggarai-Blok M) as a pilot project.

"Mr. Governor wants the revitalization to be started in the upcoming March. We choose Kopaja S66 bus as the initial pilot for revitalizing the whole public transport," stated Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Benjamin Bukit, at City Hall, Wednesday (1/28).

Benjamin disclosed, for three months, he will complete the revitalization concept of public transport along with project consultants from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). "Basically, the concept is changing the pattern on payment of the deposit system into rupiah per kilometer," he said.

Public Transport Deposit System Eliminated in 2016

He furthered, bus operators are also not allowed to manage the management individually, but should be in PT Transjakarta. Later on, the company will pay the driver's salary every month in accordance with a count of rupiah per kilometer. "Through this concept, there will no longer unruly bus driver or stop carelessly," he explained.

He added the count of rupiah per kilometer paid to the driver will vary because it adapted to route length. "Its count is including operational cost and its instrument," he disclosed.
